Regina Benjamin Surgeon General Nominee. US President Obama has appointed Regina Benjamin as Surgeon General .
She practiced as a Family Physician and has helped number of poor people along Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
She is a MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant recipient, as well as a Nelson Mandela Award for Health and Human Rights recipient.
Dr Benjamin twice resurrected her clinic in a rural Alabama fishing village after it was devastated by hurricanes.
